ALEX MARCELO BENITEZ FERREIRA
Alex Benitez is an award-winning director of photography based in New York City. Alex has spent the last decade in between his home country of Paraguay, Boston and New York City developing a life in the arts. After graduating from Boston University’s School of Communication with a Bachelor of Science in Film & Television, he moved back to Asuncion for a year to expand his work with sound production and DJing. He went on to complete the One Year Cinematography Conservatory Program at the New York Film Academy all while working as a freelance filmmaker, photographer, and creative director for multiple clients.
Visual design skills paired with a strong education in filmmaking has allowed Alex to develop the cinematography for numerous short films, documentaries and music videos on top of working for the art department doing set dressing and production design, both in the U.S. and in South America. His films have been screened at various film festivals across the United States and have been the recipient of numerous awards including Best Cinematography.
In addition to his film work, Alex has shared his music DJing at various clubs, festivals, rooftops, and art galleries across North, Central & South America under the alias “sorry i’m late.” He is a resident DJ for Room Service International, a New York-based community organization, and creative collective that activates tangible change in the underserved communities throughout the world.
He is currently based in New York City.
